Katara Cultural Village Foundation hosted the First International Forum, Family and Contemporary Challenges, organised by IBC, Manara Foundation for Development and Education, the Arab Development Experts Forum, the Violet Cultural Creativity Center, HABBA for Education and Training, and Future Ready Consultancy, on 27 and 28 February 2025.
Poet Samira Obaid, president of the Violet Cultural Creativity Center, opened the forum with welcoming remarks, and Khamis bin Obaid Al-Ajmi, president of the Arab Federation of Private Schools, spoke on education and the role of the family. The programme addressed contemporary changes in family roles and structure, the contribution of schools to family education, and child development in light of multiple-intelligence theory.
Dr Sumaya Al-Mutawa chaired the first session on contemporary changes in family functions and structure, in which Dr Hala El-Said presented a paper on changing family roles and social development, Dr Majed Al-Marzouqi of Saudi Arabia presented on the school’s role in supporting family education, and Dr Muhaira Othman Taha presented on child-rearing through multiple-intelligence theory. Saleh Gharib chaired further sessions within the programme.
Al Arab Qatari newspaper covered the forum in its 3 March 2025 edition, recording the council’s participation alongside the other organising bodies.
